The Society will miss John Broom

The College Park Historical Society is saddened that a dear friend and neighbor John Broom, our Vice President has passed away. John, your wit and intellect will be sorely missed.

JOHN WAYNE BROOM , 67, of College Park, passed away on April 8th, 2009 as the result of a sudden heart attack. Born in Monroe, North Carolina, John spent his adult life in the Atlanta Area. He and his wife, Anda Jones Broom, have made their home for most of the past 26 years in College Park where John played an active role in many community service activities. John's nature was one of generosity and giving. John leaves his wife, Anda; his sons, John and Michael Broom; his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Hills; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Noel and Kristin Mayeske; his step-son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Lisa Mayeske; and eight grandchildren who were the light of his life. Because of John's commitment and devotion to his church, the family asks that any honors to his memory be made to St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, 163 Ponce de Leon, N.E., Atlanta, Georgia 30308. His service was on April 13, 2009.
